RACE OVERVIEW

The Abbots Way is a 125 kilometer trail run, across the Tuscan and Emilia Romagna Apennines in northern Italy with a 5500m level gain.

It follows an epic path that was used throughout centuries by the religious on their way to Rome. Cutting across the Apennines, and amidst perils of various nature the Abbots Way provided a ‘shortcut to Rome’ that to this day passes through some of the finest Italian scenery.

There are three ways to run the Abbots Way:
CLASSIC: In two stages as a Two day event with stop over for the night in Bardi (halfway).
TWIN TEAM: Two day event, as Teams of two persons. The Team will cover each day's distance divided into two distinct legs (per day). Stop over for the night in Bardi (halfway).
ONE STAGE: In one stage, non stop run straight through. No stop off in Bardi.

Race starts in Pontremoli at 06.00 on Saturday, May 1, 2010 and ends in Bobbio on Sunday, May 2, 2010.

The event consists of approximately 95% trails or woodland service roads and 5% of asphalted roads.

The Abbots Way is a qualifying race for UTMB with three points awarded to finishers. Abbots Way 2010 = 3 points for UTMB 2011.
